This is a test which measures progesterone levels and helps to determine when a female dog is ovulating to ensure the highest chance of a successful mating. Progesterone testing can also be used when planning a cesarean as the progesterone levels fall around the time the puppies are ready to be born, this is called reverse progesterone testing.
Ultrasound scans are a great way to confirm pregnancy and to get a rough estimate of how many puppies your dog is due. Ultrasounds can also be used post whelping if you are u sure if your dog has given birth to all puppies.
Semen analysis is highly recommended to ensure your dog is suitable for stud. It can offer an element of trust to those who decide to use your stud as they can be sure of your dogs sperm quality. As part of the analysis we check sperm count, motility, velocity and morphology.
We use our experience to ensure your dog has a low stress mating.
Cytology testing is another method used to test for ovulation and determine the optimum breeding window for matings.
